We will be having a benefit spaghetti dinner for Bill and Becky Barlow. Just before Christmas Becky had a medical emergency which she is still recuperting from. Becky's illness has resulted in an extensive stay in a Anchorage CCU for weeks and follow up doctor's visits or other short hospital stays. Becky has not been able to work since her illness started and Bill has been staying with her and as a result neither of them have been able to work. Becky's illness has resulted in extensive expenses. Bill and Becky can use all the help and support we will be able to give them, so please come out and help out two of our own and have a great spaghetti dinner at the same time.

HIGHER DEGREE COMMITTEE

The Higher Degree Committee has a dinner on the third Thursday of each month. All Lodge and Chapter members, their families, and guests are invited to join us for a good time. We will also have a birthday cake in order to celebrate all of the monthly birthday members. Everyone is encouraged to come join us for a good time.

The Higher Degree Honoring Dinner on November 19 was a hugh success. Lodge and Chapter members honored were Bubba Castoe, AK-HI Moose Legion Ambassador; Larry Finstad, Moose of the Year; Arloine Finstad Co-Worker of the Year; Brigette Vaughan, New College of Regent Collegian; Scott Vaughan, Moose Legion of the Year and new Fellow; Cheryl Zwolle, Green Cap recipient, and Michele Lee, New Academy of Friendship. The band was great and a number of participants enjoyed dancing after dinner. We figured on having 30 people and ended up with 47. We ran out of salad but had 009334103 plenty of everything else. If you are one of the attendees I hope that you enjoyed the meal and entertainment. If you did not attend hopefully we will see you next year. A special thanks to Mike Riley for cooking the meal, Arloine Finstad for furnishing the dessert, and Greg Corbett and his ROTC cadets which were a great help with serving and cleaning up.

What is the Moose Legion?
Dedicated members of the Loyal Order of Moose continually look for ways to provide even greater service to our children at Mooseheart and our senior members at Moosehaven. The Moose Legion provides a venue for these enthusiastic members to direct and lead special programs that accomplish this fraternal mission.

Who belongs to the Moose Legion?
Moose Legionnaires come from all walks of life and occupations. They are leaders in their communities and they prevail in positions of responsibility and leadership within the Moose fraternity. Each Moose Legionnaire believes strongly in doing some good thing for someone each day.

Why should I consider joining the Moose Legion?
Membership in the Degree of Service offers you additional opportunities to serve childhood and old age, and opens the door to you and your family for theme parties, sporting events, community service projects, and other unique activities available only to members of the Moose Legion. Moose Legion Celebrations are held at various Lodges within the jurisdiction of your Moose Legion, and serve as a means to share ideas and enjoy good times with fellow Moose Legionnaires. Leadership skills may be developed through the Moose Legion Committee of your Lodge or within the Moose Legion jurisdiction. Membership in the Moose Legion is the stepping stone to the Honorary Degrees of our Order – the Fellowship Degree of Honor and the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Being called to receive these Honorary Degrees within the Loyal Order of Moose is only possible through recognized achievements in the Lodge and Moose Legion.

How do I join the Moose Legion?
Must be an active Lodge member, have 1 year of Lodge membership, must have sponsored one Lodge applicant that has been accepted for membership in the Lodge, or must be an active Lodge member for 6 month, sponsored 3 Lodge applicants that have been accepted for membership in the Lodge, or must be a active Lodge member and been a former Legionnaire. The required $25 dues and $10 applications fee are turned into the Assistant Moose Legion Secretary of the Moose Lodge. You will be notified as to the date, time, and location of the next Moose Legion conferral
